2020 Strong Beginnings Newsletter Released
In 2020, through the support of the Global Development Alliance (United States Agency for International Development, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, and an anonymous foundation), the University of Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education Haiti and Global Center for the Development of the Whole Child teams finished the Read Haiti program and introduced the Strong Beginnings initiative. Where Read Haiti worked to integrate early grade literacy programming in Creole and French in first and second grades and piloted a social and emotional learning (SEL) program, Strong Beginnings builds on this work, expands the SEL program, and introduces community-based early childhood development initiatives and positive parenting interventions within the community’s home, school, and church ecosystem.
